Group seeks to create no-kill animal shelter on Saipan

The public is invited to attend a get-together to share ideas and discuss plans for “Emily’s Hope,” a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter on Saipan.

“Emily’s Hope,” a future shelter, will house lost, homeless, and abandoned dogs and cats. Its goal is to aid each animal with housing, medical care, spay and neuter programs, and meals in a safe, loving, and caring environment while waiting for adoption or being reunited with their family.

Organizers are looking for individuals or groups with compassion for animals with skills in secretary, treasury, grant writing, Web design, law, CPA, fundraising, public relations, contractors, animal care and training, and many more.

If you or anyone you know are interested in learning more or have a skill you could share with us to help, or just come with your support, join us as we work together to make “Emily’s Hope” a reality. We will meet on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 6:30pm inside Café at The Park. For more information, contact Damiana at 322-5949. (PR)

  1. IF you guys can guarantee that all animals brought into your place are neutered then maybe you have a chance at this.
But as is with this “animal control” in place now, they are only releasing mnany of these stray animals back out to be able to breed again.
You will have a long hard process from finding a suitable place, complying with zoning and health etc.
The a main obstacle will be generating needed revenue to continue but the biggest one will be being able to get these animals neutered as the one vet on Island will not help without a high fee.
This perception has never worked on any of the Pacific Islands that I have been to because of the environment and peoples conception.

But I do wish you all the luck in the future.
