Guam to receive $2.1M for typhoon cleanup

The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $2,174,453 National Dislocated Worker Grant incremental grant to the Guam Agency for Human Resources Development.

On June 30, 2015, the department approved a National Dislocated Worker Grant for up to $2,772,641, with $592,253 released initially. This incremental grant brings the total funds awarded for this project to $2,766,706.

The Guam Agency for Human Resources Development will use the funds to continue temporary employment of about 215 workers to assist with the cleanup and recovery efforts needed after Typhoon Dolphin struck Guam from May 13-15, 2015.

On June 5, 2015, the Federal Emergency Management Agency issued Major Disaster Declaration DR-4224 in response to the destruction left in the aftermath of the typhoon. (USDOL)
