History conference cancelled

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council announced yesterday that the 3rd Marianas History Conference originally schedule to be held on Saipan on Sept. 4-6 has been cancelled due to Typhoon Soudelor.

Tentative plans call for this conference to be held on Saipan sometime in 2017.

Presenters who were scheduled to participate in this conference have been invited to have their papers included in an e-publication that will be made available to the public in the near future.

Additionally, the Council is exploring the possibility of holding a mini-conference within the next few months that focuses on the issues associated with the U.S. military’s plans for base development and training activities in the Marianas archipelago.
