Hotshots took over the game early against Kosebakl to secure a 16-13 win in the women’s division the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.
Kosebakl pitcher Jennie Scalliem could not get past the Hotshots’ explosive lineup as batter after batter made contact with each pitch resulting in an 11-run first inning, putting Hotshots up, 11-2.
Britney Lizama of the Hotshots got the momentum going as the first batter to get a hit which began a trickle effect of hits down the whole lineup. Hotshots’ bats were certainly on fire as only one batter struck out while everyone except one batter had at least a hit each.
Additionally, throughout the game Hotshots’ star player Becky Repeki shot a home run, hit a double, and collected four RBIs—the most in the game.
The bombardment of hits seemed endless but relief came as the Hotshots were shut down in the second inning. It was short-lived though as they came back in the third inning to score five more runs against Kosebakl’s additional three, to make the game 16-5.
The game was over even though the Hotshots could not get any more runs in as Kosebakl weren’t able to catch up, putting up only an additional seven runs for a final score of 16-13.
This game brought the Hotshots out of the gutter to three wins and two losses and Kosebakl tied up their wins and losses at three apiece.
The games that were played in the men’s division last Sunday will be published in tomorrow’s edition of Saipan Tribune.
