I Look at the Campaign

Share

I look at the campaign
read claptrap on Trump’s blog
and this is what I see
a narrow minded demagogue
threatening American liberty
I heard of ludicrous Mexican walls
planned by a racist pumped up ego
and wonder where he got the balls
to think Americans would say
along with you we go
I look at poll after poll
and what do my tired eyes find
that most American’s realize
Donald Trump has lost his mind

After Langston Hughes’ poem I Look At The World.

D.J. Trump – Portrait of  a  Loser

Trump? I clearly see a ‘BIGLY’ loser there
lacking the substance a president requires
with 70 year old teenage hormonal desires
spouting untruths he calls the media unfair
my heart and soul sink  so I say a prayer
for Trump and the muck in which he mires
a campaign where candidates call each other liars
in search to find a truth he knows not where
will he give direct answers to the hard part
of questions the media and general public ask
or is he just a blowhard super dumb old fart
bumbling billionaire not equal to the task
direct my vote to the person that is right
as an educated voter with some clear insight

(inspired by 16th century Tuscan poet, Giovanni
Della Casa’s poem, ‘Portrait of a Lady’. Della
Casa is also known for a famous etiquette book,
called ‘Galateo’. Something Trumpery should have
read before he started his ugly campaign.)

“And the Walls Came Down All the Way to Hell…”

Great Wall of China:
the Emperor of China had troubles from the North
he had a wall built from the sea to the Gobi desert
invaders climbing over and around poured forth
many who built it died and took most of the hurt
Medieval Castle Walls:
kings, queens, princes, duchesses and dukes
built thick castle walls surrounded by moats
many have now crumbled and royalty rebuked
democracy adopted and leaders elected by votes
The Berlin Wall:
after WWII Russians and German Communists
built a wall across Berlin so that people couldn’t run
those escaping were shot, German spies kept lists
Reagan said ‘Tear Down This Wall’ destruction had begun
Trump’s Mexican Wall:
Donald J. Trump promises a huge anti Mexican border wall
which will ultimately take Trumpty Dumpty on his final fall

The title is taken from the first line of the chorus of Tweeter and the Monkey Man as sung by Bob Dylan and the Traveling Wilburys, 1988.

Deny the Adult Adolescent Aspirant

America is already great I’ve always thought
and it is alive and well within my patriotic breast
with our great history and why our forefathers fought
on my birthdate the Star Spangled Banner rests*
Trump says he will “Make America Great Again”
that he will build a Mexican wall to give us hope
his red hats keep repeating the campaign refrain
while many women say he likes to grab and grope
repeating himself twice or more in all his speeches
loads of negatives, empty promises, and little policy
with an insulting whining demeanor he preaches
his entire campaign is lacking in POTUS quality
my thoughts on Donald Trump will not be moved
his brute demagoguery is simply NOT APPROVED

*Inspiration is Petrarch’s 14th century sonnet, Love the Tyrant. I was born on Sept. 14, the day Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner in 1814.

Our Nation’s Fate After a Thousand Days

well D.T. won the 2016 election and wouldn’t you just know
his major foreign policy program is completely bogged down
with inordinate obsession and focus on the border of Mexico
dumb immigration policy of President Trumpty Dumpty clown
already three years and president more than a thousand days
fighting with both houses of Congress for funding and passage
Americans who look south from San Diego see only pollution haze
D.T.’s at Taco Bell, Taco Time, Chipotle eating chorizo sausage
about all those promises to stop crime and killing on the streets
there has not been one piece of legislation on gun law passed
Neighborhood Watch gets a few Trump Tweets and Retweets
Pence and Congress remain filibustered with a focus on the past
from Brownsville, TX to Baja California, Chihuahua to Calexico
only coyotes and mules cross the desert on the border of Mexico
