Inos set to return in early August
Gov. Eloy S. Inos is expected to return from the U.S. mainland by early August.
Press secretary Ivan Blanco did not give the exact date, but said the governor will not extend his stay in Seattle where he is vacationing with family members.
Blanco said all indications seem to point that the governor is in “good spirits” and in good health. Blanco said he is basing his observations on photos in social media showing the CNMI leader with family members and friends.
Blanco added that the governor is being kept updated with what is happening in the CNMI, and that Inos and acting governor Ralph DLG. Torres are in constant communications with each other.
“But there are topics that they talk about that I am not privy to,” Blanco said.
Inos took a leave to take a vacation early this month.
The last few weeks have been very challenging for the CNMI.
Aside from typhoons, the Commonwealth about two weeks ago was hit with a massive communications outage that prompted the acting governor to declare a state of emergency, which is still in effect up to now.
Estimates vary, but losses on that particular day that communications lines were down were said to have reached millions of dollars.
The cause of the communications breakdown was reportedly a damaged fiber optic cable owned by service provider IT&E.
Repairs are continuing on the damaged cable, IT&E said.
