IPI, EEOC settlement talks continue
Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission continue to negotiate a settlement in EEOC’s suit alleging sexual harassment and unfair employment practices.
According to the minutes of the proceedings, U.S. District Court for the NMI Magistrate Judge Heather L. Kennedy has scheduled another settlement conference for March 3, 2021 at 10am. The jury trial in the case is still set to begin on Sept. 28, 2021.
During the proceedings held last Wednesday, IPI was represented by attorney Stephen Nutting while the EEOC was represented by attorney Eric Yau.
According to court documents, the EEOC sued IPI back in September 2019 for alleged sexual harassment and unfair employment practices on behalf of a VIP hostess, and other similarly aggrieved female employees.
IPI has denied the allegations and has asked the federal court to dismiss the complaint.
