IT&E donates $50,000 to school PTAs, non-profits
IT&E handed out checks to several schools and parents-teachers associations on Saipan as part of efforts to help the community after Typhoon Soudelor.
Twenty-six schools received checks of various amounts from the telecommunications company at their Chalan Laulau Office last Friday.

“We sat down with the staff and we were discussing…how many organizations and people need help,” chief operating officer John Compton said. “The unanimous, first answer out of everybody’s mouths from the IT&E team was the kids.”
“We’re very happy to support the schools and the kids,” he added.
The checks are part of the $50,000 donations made by IT&E to the community, not only to schools but to other organizations such as the American Red Cross, Karidat, and Salvation Army.
Those who received the donations are Chacha Oceanview Middle School, Dandan Elementary School, Eucon International College, Garapan Elementary School, Grace Christian Academy, Green Meadow School, Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, Kagman Elementary School, Kagman High School, Koblerville Elementary School, Hopwood Jr. High School, Mt. Carmel High School, Marianas High School, Oleai Elementary School, Saipan Community School, Saipan International School, Saipan Southern High School, Brilliant Star, Seventh-Day Adventist School, Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development, Tanapag Middle School, William S. Reyes Elementary School, Whispering Palms, San Antonio Middle School, and San Vicente Elementary School.
“On behalf of our students, we’re very grateful for IT&E’s continued generosity to our school. Every day we find more things that need to be repaired, need to be replaced,” MHS principal Cherlyn Cabrera said.
“We always work with the PTA and so usually as a PTA and a school, we want to involve everybody in the decision-making when it comes to donations or funding,” said GTC principal Reina Bermudez.
According to IT&E general manager Rose Soledad, they continue to think of ways on how to improve their partnership with schools.
“This is a small start, an appreciation from IT&E,” Soledad said.
