IT&E recently gave the Saipan’s Fisherman Association $3,000 that will be used for the Marianas Fishing Tournament, specifically to fund the tournament’s wahoo fishing competition, which is being organized by students under the SFA’s Youth Fishing Club
IT&E representatives presented SFA with the check last Jan. 14 at the IT&E sales office in Chalan Lau Lau.
“We’re very grateful for the donation and the support that we’ve been getting from our sponsors and the community,” said Paul Guerrero, who is currently employed at IT&E and is a member of SFA.
This makes IT&E one of the two sponsors of the fishing tournament; the other one is Mobil Oil Marianas Inc.
The first wahoo fishing competition in the Marianas Fishing Tournament will be organized by students under the SFA’s “Tasi to Table” program, which are students from Saipan Southern High School, Marianas High School, Kagman High School, and Da’ok Academy.
Tournament registration starts on Feb. 28 from 4pm to 5:30pm at the Smiling Cove in Garapan.
The tournament itself will take place on Feb. 29 at the Smiling Cove in Garapan, from 6am to 5pm.
According to spokesperson Wayne Pangelinan, there will be a total of $5,000 in cash prizes for the first to third place and the top 3 wahoo total weight (not in placement of first to third).
The registration fees are $100 per boat (captain and one angler—a person who fishes with a rod and line) and $25 for additional anglers.
