The final week of January is proclaimed Catholic Schools Week. The last week of January has been designated Catholic Schools Week.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres proclaimed Jan. 28 through Feb. 3 as Catholic Schools Week in a proclamation signing held Friday at the Mount Carmel Cathedral.

Throughout the week, Mount Carmel School will have activities that will revolve around the theme “Catholic Schools: Serve, learn, lead, succeed.”

Last Sunday, Jan. 28, the school opened the week with a Mass.

Yesterday, Jan. 29, starting at 8am, students created appreciation banners and community service projects at Mount Carmel School. Students wore P.E clothes. Dismissal was at 3pm.

Today, Jan. 30, at 7:30am students of all Catholic schools will be writing appreciation letters and cards for faculty and staff. At 9am there will be a faculty and staff appreciation program and awarding of 2018 teacher of the year at the MCS cafeteria. Dismissal will be at 12pm.

On Wednesday, Jan. 21, there will be a Mass at 8am, a vocations presentation at 9am, an appreciation card-making and vocations talk at 10am, a Jeopardy-style Bible game at 12:30pm at the Maturana building and dismissal will be at 1:50pm.

On Thursday, Feb. 1, students will be creating praise notes, assembling care packages, and there will be a tribute door decoration contest. Dismissal will be at 3pm.

On Friday, Feb. 2, there will be a roadside waving at the Mount Carmel Cathedral field followed by a field day at the MCS courtyard. Dismissal will be at 12pm. Students and parents are encouraged to return at 6pm for a family night celebration where the 2018 Parents of the Year will be awarded.

Saturday, Feb. 3, there will be the awarding of the 2018 AlumKnight of the Year at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan.
