Japanese Society’s Autumn Festival this Saturday
The Japanese Society of the Northern Marianas will be hosting the upcoming Autumn Festival on Oct. 22, 2022 (Saturday), at the Paseo de Marianas, to promote the Japanese culture and to show its commitment to the CNMI community. The event will last from 5pm to 9pm.
The opening ceremony will kick off at 6pm with the ceremonial breaking of a sake barrel. Food vendors will be selling popular Japanese foods like takoyaki, yakitori, yakisoba, ramen etc. There will also be various game booths—a shooting gallery, ring toss, water balloon fishing—for everyone to enjoy.
A raffle is also planned, with attractive prizes like speakers, Bluetooth earphones, Takoaki machine all made in Japan, $500 Docomo gift card, meal coupons, hotel accommodation and many more.
Foods, games, and raffle tickets can be purchased and played with the special tokens. Tokens are available to buy now at Himawari, Takagi Associates, Furusato, and Aqua Connections with $10 for 11 tokens if you buy in advance. You can also buy on the spot at the festival with $1 for one token.
The festival will feature garage sales (drom 4pm to 6pm) for fundraising for the Japanese school.
The highlight of this year’s festival is that the Awaodori Saipan team will celebrate its 15th anniversary and will perform onstage at 6pm and 7:30pm, collaborating with Tokyo Tensuiren entertainers from Japan. This will be the exciting show.
The stage will also demonstrate the Saipan Kenbukai for the traditional kendo style, as well as Bonodori Dance, traditional dance with Kimono and performances. We encourage the public to join and experience the dance.
The public is encouraged to follow the 3W’s; Wear your mask, Wash your hands, and Watch your distance. All of our staffs are fully vaccinated. We would like you to stay safe and enjoy the festival.
This festival is one of many examples of the historic ties between the Marianas and Japan. (PR)
