JKPL to hold ‘Build A Better World’ this summer
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is making summer break memorable by turning it into an educational adventure called “Build A Better World.”
Readers of all ages are invited to join the 2017 Summer Reading Program at JKPL: The more books you read, the more points you earn and get great prizes. For children (ages 6 years old to 12 years old), the program will have activities such as Read Aloud & Craft/Reading Rangers, Computer Days, Special Guest Days, Movie Days (all ages), and Independent Reading Challenge and more.
Session 1 will run from June 6 to 16. Children ages 6-8 are scheduled at 8:30am to 11:30am. Children ages 9-12 are scheduled at 12:30pm to 3pm. Session 2 will run from June 20 to 30. Children ages 6-8 are scheduled from 8:30am to 11:30am. Children ages 9-12 are scheduled from 12:30pm to 3pm
JKPL is also encouraging teens to join the Teen Summer Library Experience that will run from June 6 to Aug. 4 and reach their summer reading goals. This will help them track their summer reading, learning, and earn points. Adults are invited to join the first Motheread/Fatheread Family Literacy Program that runs from June 6 to Aug. 4 at the Adult Summer Library Institute. Adults who read or listen to eight books this summer will receive a gift for finishing.
Registration is ongoing everyday from 10:30am to 5:30pm until May 26 at the Children’s Library. All participants must have a valid JKPL card with no pending fees or fines.
JKPL also said that its Bookmobile Summer Outreach Program will be on the move. It will be out in the communities promoting the library by visiting the Garapan Community Development Center July 5-7 for children ages 6-12 years old from 9am to 12:30pm; at the Fernando Benavente Memorial Library on July 18 -21, 2017, for children ages 6-12 years old from 9:30am to 12pm; Koblerville Youth Learning Center on July 25-28 for children ages 6-12 years old from 9:30am to 1pm; Tanapag Youth Center on Aug. 1-4 for children ages 6-12 years old from 9:30am to 12pm; and Kagman Community Center on Aug. 8-11 for children ages 6-12 years old from 9:30am to 12pm.
