Junior mock trial workshop for teachers today

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council will be hosting a Junior Mock Trial workshop today, Dec. 5, at the Guma Hustisia at 3:30pm.

“The goal of the workshop is to provide new teacher-coaches with the basics of the junior high mock trial program, including advice on opening and closing remarks, direct and cross examinations, and introducing evidence,” Humanities Council program officer Eulalia Villagomez said.

Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho, who has also been a longtime advocate and has served as the program’s mock trial judge since 2005, will facilitate the workshop.

Villagomez said that it is open to all middle school and junior high school teacher-coaches and is being offered free of charge.

“This year’s program will culminate in a series of mock trials held at the Guma Hustisia in April 2015,” she said.

Registration forms are available on the council’s website at www.northernmarianashumanities.org.

Those wishing to learn more about the Junior High Mock Trial program may call the Humanities Council at 235-4785.
