Kagman High School prevailed in an extended game against Mount Carmel School 1, as action in the 2019-2020 PSS Interscholastic Girls High School Volleyball League resumed last week at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

The Lady Ayuyus took three sets to come out on top of the Lady Knights, as they lost the opening set before redeeming themselves in the last two. Mt. Carmel 1 won by 8 points in the first set, 25-17, but failed to finish off Kagman, as the Lady Ayuyus battled back with a 25-12 triumph in the second.

Then in the deciding third set, Kagman rode on the momentum of its victory in the second to pull off another win, 15-10.

In other results, Mt. Carmel 2 also needed three sets to survive Agape Christian School. The Lady Torchbearers escaped past the Lady Knights in the first set, 25-21, to move closer to victory, but Mt. Carmel 2 foiled Agape’s bid
for a sweep after taking the set in similar scores. The Lady Knights went on to complete the come-from-behind win after topping the third set, 15-8.

Meanwhile, MHS, Saipan International School, Saipan Southern High School, and Grace Christian Academy also returned to action last Oct. 3 after taking a brief break (one week), as the MHS Gym had to undergo repairs.

In the match pitting MHS 2 against SIS 2, the Dolphins eked out a 26-24 win in the first set and walked away with a straight set triumph after a much easier victory in the second, 25-9.

MHS 1 did not share the same fate as their fellow Lady Dolphins following a loss to GCA in two sets. The Lady Eagles cruised to a 25-12 win in the first set and completed the sweep by prevailing in the second, 25-22.

The Lady Manta Rays also took only two sets to beat SIS 2. Saipan Southern eased past SIS 2 in the first, 25-15, and finished the match early with a 25-11 win in the second.

The Lady Geckos had a split last week, as SIS 1 came out the victor in its duel against Saipan Southern. After a close 26-24 triumph in the first set, SIS 1 overpowered the Manta Rays in the second set, 25-13.
