Li’s disappearance now on 3rd week

As the mysterious disappearance of Saipan Fresh Market owner Zhi Yuan Li enters its third week, his 65-year-old father and wife were set to leave the CNMI last night.

Department of Public Safety Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero said yesterday the investigation into Li’s disappearance is still ongoing. He did not elaborate.

Li’s brother told Saipan Tribune yesterday that their father and Li’s wife were going back to China last night.

The brother said he does not know when their father is coming back to Saipan.

The father and Li’s wife arrived from China a few days after the businessman’s disappearance.

A family member also stated that DPS investigators have yet to return Li’s white Toyota Tacoma to the family.

Li, 43, was reportedly last seen on Jan. 17 at 11am, seeing a friend at an “accounting office” near a tire shop in Puerto Rico. His family reported his disappearance to police that day at 7:56pm.

The following morning, police recovered Li’s Toyota Tacoma pickup truck abandoned at a dirt road located between Ladder Beach and Obyan Beach.

Li’s other brother refused to comment yesterday, saying the Federal Bureau of Investigation has already been looking into the matter.

A family member reminded the public about their offer of $50,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the location of Li—whether he’s still alive or already dead.
