Lopsided wins for MPU, Kanoa

MP United and Kanoa won the pair of one-sided games in the co-ed U12 division of the 2016 NMIFA Youth Spring League last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

Kanoa whipped Tan Holdings, 8-1, while MPU demolished Paire, 10-1. With their victories, MP United and Kanoa kept the Top 2 spots in the team standings after improving to 4-0-0 and 2-0-2 win-draw-loss records. Tan Holdings and Paire have similar 1-0-3 marks.

Ian Lubao scored two goals in Kanoa’s easy win, while Merrick Toves, Lee Roy Villagomez, Andrew Sablan, Paulyn Joyce, Brian Lubao, Wayne Lizama, and Lester Bata chipped in one goal apiece.

In the MPU-Paire tiff, Rintaro Miyawaki had four goals for the former, while Rohan Basnet and Andrew Chung contributed two apiece, and Dylan Kim and Akira Kadokura tallied one each. Max Church scored the lone goal for Paire.

BOYS U14
MPU 4, Matansa 1

MP United also triumphed in the boys U14 game at the Koblerville Elementary School Field last weekend after downing Matansa.

Miyawaki again led MPU with his pair of goals, while Oliver Lee and Go Sekiguchi logged one apiece. Lolobeyong Benito recorded the only goal for Matansa.

Kanoa 8, Shirley’s 1
Kanoa registered its second lopsided victory last weekend after dominating Shirley’s.

Sebastien Manabat starred in the win with his hat-trick. Joseph Rasa chipped in two goals, while Angelo Ada, Toves, and Ian Karl Maniago posted one apiece. Brandon Tenorio averted a shutdown for Shirley’s after scoring in the second half.

Tan Holdings 6, Paire 2
Tan Holdings drew goals from four different players to beat Paire.

John Michael Rojas and Thaiphi Austria registered two goals each, while John Paul Cruz and Joshua Waldo had one apiece. Jamin Elliot and Kaden Church logged one goal each for Paire.

GIRLS U15
Kanoa 5, MP United 2

Over at the San Antonio Middle School Field, Kanoa outclassed MP United.

Joyce powered Kanoa to victory after scoring three goals. Ericka Santiago and Kristelle Itaas nailed the two other goals for Kanoa, which moved up to second place in the team standings with its 3-0-1 record, behind the unbeaten Shirley’s (3-0-0)

Matansa 4, Paire 0
In the other girls match, Matansa shut down Paire.

Lyka Sally had a double for Matansa, which got one goal each from Sunny Woo and Barbara Peteru.

The third game in the division featuring Shirley’s FC and Tan Holdings was rescheduled.

BOYS U17
Kanoa 2, Paire 0

Kanoa barged into the win column in the division after beating Paire.

Ian Karl Maniago and Andruw Omelau hit the board for Kanoa, which dropped its first two games before topping Paire (1-0-2).

Matansa 2, Tan Holdings 0
Matansa took the solo lead following a victory over Tan Holdings.

James Ermitanio and Jun Sik Kim registered one goal apiece for Matansa, which now has a 3-0-1 record to grab the upper hand from MP United (2-0-1).
