Man admits to selling ‘ice’
A man accused of selling methamphetamine or “ice” last year has pleaded guilty in federal court as part of a plea deal.
Yang Kang Chen, also known as Akam, Ah-Kong, and Ken, pleaded guilty to distribution of a controlled substance.
Chen’s change of plea hearing was held last Jan. 27, but the record of the proceeding as well as the plea agreement and other documents were sealed at the parties’ request. The parties agreed yesterday to unseal the documents.
Defense counsel Bruce Berline and the U.S. Attorney’s Office said it is no longer necessary to maintain the seal.
Chen will be sentenced on May 17, 2017.
According to police, Chen sold 6.6 grams of methamphetamine to an individual working as a confidential source for the Drug Enforcement Administration at the American Memorial Park in Garapan on May 17, 2016.
