A man who was asked by his girlfriend to cook rice for their children allegedly assaulted her with a head-butt and a broom in Chalan Kanoa over the weekend.
Moses Kaipat Buekis, 26, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.
Police said the victim suffered a bruise to the upper right knee.
At yesterday’s hearing, Superior Court associate judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $6,000 cash bail for the defendant’s temporary release.
Camacho appointed the Office of Public Defender to represent Buekis.
Detective JB K. Cepeda stated in his report that two police officers responded to a residence in Chalan Kanoa on Saturday at noon after receiving a call about domestic violence.
Cepeda said the victim told one of the officers that prior to the attack, she asked Buekis to cook rice for their children, but he just ignored her.
When the girlfriend insisted, Buekis got up from bed and allegedly head-butted her. He then took a broom and began striking it at her on the legs and hip.
Police then arrested the defendant.
