Man allegedly chokes 54-yr-old girlfriend

A drunk man allegedly choked his 54-year-old girlfriend early yesterday morning at their apartment in Afetnas during an argument over car payment.

Jephone D. Navarro, 38, was arrested for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $125 cash.

Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan said that police officers had responded to Afetnas after a caller reported a disturbance at 11:53pm Thursday.

The alleged victim told police that she and Navarro were arguing about his share in the payment of their car when Navarro allegedly choked her, prompting her to scream.

Navarro let her go and walked to the kitchen, looking for a knife. The girlfriend ran to a neighbor’s house where she asked for help.

Navarro denied the allegation.

Assistant public defender Douglas Hartig was appointed to represent the defendant.
