An employee of the Tinian Mayor’s Office was arrested for allegedly beating a woman, threatening to kill police officers, and twice spitting on the face of a police officer on Tinian on Monday night.

Eugene Atalig San Nicolas Jr., 21, was arrested for two counts of assaults and battery, resisting arrest, fleeing/eluding police officers, and assault. His bail was set at $10,000 cash but he was allowed to post only 10 percent or $1,000 cash. Preliminary hearing will be on Feb. 1 at 9am.

Assistant public defender Tillman Clark was appointed as counsel for San Nicolas. Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

A police officer responded to an apartment on Monday at 10:11pm after police received a call for assistance.

It was learned that San Nicolas, who had already left the apartment, allegedly banged the woman’s head against the door, threw her on the bed, slapped her face, pulled her hair, and dragged her out of the room during an argument.

The police report did not indicate whether the alleged victim is San Nicolas’ wife or girlfriend.

The woman allegedly tried to get her children but San Nicolas pushed her out.

Later, San Nicolas came on a scooter and stopped in front of the apartment. He yelled profanities at the two police officers, showed them his middle finger, and sped away.

San Nicolas passed by the apartment again and when a police officer told him he would be arrested for domestic violence, the defendant shouted profanities at the officer and sped away. The officer chased San Nicolas but lost sight of him.

San Nicolas later went back to his apartment and locked himself in. He refused to come out and threatened to shoot two responding police officers.

The officers barged inside the room and arrested San Nicolas, who allegedly resisted and challenged the officers to a fight.

On the way to the police station inside a patrol car, San Nicolas allegedly spat twice on the face of one officer and threatened to shoot the two.
