Man gets 57 months for illegal possession of firearms, bullets
Jesus Sablan Palacios was recently sentenced in the U.S. District Court to 57 months imprisonment for the offense of felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. After serving his sentence, Palacios will be placed on supervised release for five years.
On April 11, 2013, special agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Public Safety Officers executed a search warrant on Palacios’ residence in San Antonio and recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, a modified .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, along with several rounds of ammunition hidden beneath the floor of his bedroom. Palacios was indicted in August 2013 and was convicted after a jury trial in December 2013 for being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.
The case originated with DPS and was subsequently investigated jointly by DPS, DEA, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
