Matansa Football Club-2 capped its campaign in the 2019 Dove Spring Women’s Futsal League on a high note after dominating MP United, 6-1, last Sunday at the TSL Sports Complex.

Chautima Borja, Tawny Barcinas, and Chirapan Mcquire delivered in Matansa-2’s last game with the former anchoring the team’s offense after scoring three goals. Barcinas added a pair, while Mcquire chipped in one.

Barcinas started things off for Matansa-2 with her shot in the 11th minute, while Borja wrapped up the first half with back-to-back goals to give their squad a promising 3-0 halftime advantage.

Borja made it three in a row with her conversion in the 39th minute, while MP United finally lit up the board in the 42nd minute, thanks to Aimee Quito-Weiss’goal. Three minutes after MP United broke its silence, Barcinas got her second goal, while Mcquire closed out for Matansa-2 in the 49th of the 50-minute match.

Meanwhile, TanHoldings also won its last game of the season (via forfeiture against Topnotch), while Kanoa and Matansa-1 settled for a draw, 6-6.

Ivan Claire Gozon saved her best for last, firing five goals for Matansa-1, including the equalizer in the second half. Earlier in the first half, Gozon’s hat trick kept Matansa-1 in the game, as Kanoa only led by one at the break, 4-3. Merlie Tolentino scored the first goal for Kanoa, while Melanie Santos logged the second, and Amelia Quintos nailed back-to-back to put their team on top.

Two straight goals from Santos in the second half boosted Kanoa’s chances to end the season with a victory. However, Matansa-1 denied Kanoa’s bid, as Sombat Shankweiler’s goal in the 44th minute cut the deficit two one before Gozon’s fifth goal forced the standoff.
