A 56-year-old media consultant from Taiwan has been named as the 2019 Intern to the Marianas, earning the opportunity to explore the islands and work with the Marianas Visitors Authority to promote the destination in Taiwan over the next year.
Alex Liu was selected from among 355 contestants who entered this year’s Intern to the Marianas contest, besting three finalists in the final judging portion in August 2019 in Taipei.
Based on his video entry, Liu was voted No. 1 in public online voting conducted in July 2019. The final judging portion held last week at Amazing Hall in Taipei was a live interview on-stage, where Liu was also voted No. 1 by a panel of judges.
“Since we started the Intern to the Marianas contest in Taiwan five years ago, it has continued to generate a lot of online buzz and media coverage for the Marianas,” said MVA managing director Priscilla M. Iakopo. “After all, who wouldn’t love the opportunity to work and play in this beautiful destination. We look forward to welcoming Alex on his first visit to the Marianas and to working with him.”
As Intern to the Marianas, Liu will work with the MVA’s Taiwan office to help promote the Marianas to the public in Taiwan. (PR)
