China’s Modern Bride magazine visited Saipan and Tinian last month to prepare an article about getting married in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Sites visited during the familiarization tour from Sept. 10-14 included Coral Ocean Point Resort, Mariana Resort, Fiesta Resort & Spa dinner show, Managaha, La Tratorria, and the International Festival of Cultures. On Tinian, sites included the Tinian Blowhole, Taga Beach, and Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.
Popular Chinese actress Wang, Luo Dan served as the model for the article. Wang has over 33 million followers on Chinese social media Weibo and will be featured on the bridal magazine’s cover.
“With the recent celebrity wedding [on] Saipan last month, there is increased awareness in China—especially via social media—of the Northern Marianas as a wedding and honeymoon destination,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “The Modern Bride magazine article with Wang will be a good follow-up to that earlier coverage.”
Modern Bride magazine is published by Condé Nast Media Group and has a circulation of nearly 500,000 a month, targeting readers between ages 21-30 with higher income and higher education. The article “CNMI: Wedding Paradise” is scheduled to appear in their December 2014 issue.
Following the FAM tour, Wang also earned her beginning dive certification and posted photos of her visit to Saipan on her Weibo account. (MVA)
