With established presence in key China markets such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, the Marianas Visitors Authority continues to target new markets in the country, including China’s vast northwest region.

The MVA recently promoted the Marianas at the 2019 Xi’An Silk Road International Tourism Expo on March 29-31, 2019, in Shaanxi Province. The event attracted more than 500 culture and tourism enterprises from 43 foreign countries and regions and 31 domestic provinces and cities. Five hundred travel buyers also joined the event.

“It’s a strategic move to have the Marianas Visitors Authority actively participate in one of the biggest tourism events in western China,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “We took full opportunity to enhance the brand of the Marianas to the local travel industry and the…public, and the response we received about the Marianas was positive. We think these landlocked residents would welcome the chance to experience island life, so we are exploring the opportunity and demand for direct flights from this part of the country.”

Concepcion participated in the opening ceremony, was interviewed by media, and joined MVA staff in sharing information with local travel agencies at the MVA booth.

Tourism partners Brighten Travel, TDI, Impression Tour, Skydive Saipan and Hyatt Regency Saipan also took part in the event.

The MVA also received an award for “Best Organization Booth” at the event. (PR)
