NBG donates to the Feds Feed Families campaign
SANTA RITA, Guam—Approximately 600 lbs of food and $4,500 was donated to local nonprofit organizations as part of the Feds Feed Families Campaign on Sept. 3.
Deliveries were made to Kamalen Karidat and the Salvation Army on behalf of service members, federal employees and their families. The campaign was a voluntary effort that collected nonperishable food items and monetary donations for distribution to local food banks and nonprofit organizations.

“Everybody really stepped up on the base (to donate); it’s very awesome to be a part of a community who’s willing to do that, to give of themselves over and over,” said Lt. Jason Turner, U.S. Naval Base Guam chaplain. “We all need a little help from time to time, and when we can recognize that, step up to that, what a fantastic movement to be a part of.”
The Feds Feed Families campaign was launched in June and ended on Aug. 31. Drop boxes were located in various locations on NBG including the NEX, Charles King Fitness Center, Commissary, and chapel.
A previous donation was made in conjunction with this year’s campaign. In July, about 450 lbs of food and $3,000 were donated to Kamalen Karidat and to Catholic Social Services.
Deacon Frank Tenorio, Kamalen Karidat general manager, expressed his gratitude to those who donated as part of the campaign.
“The Navy, the military…I’ve seen the contribution that they have done for Kamalen Karidat,” he said. “I cannot say any words less than a tremendous thanksgiving for the military for caring for people like ourselves and in particular, the children of God who are less fortunate.”
