A new overall bodybuilding champion was crowned, as Italian Carmelo Miano topped the 2019 Dee Clayton Classic Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship held last Saturday at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan.

Miano, who works at the Imperial Pacific Resort, won over last year’s champion Stanley Iakopo, Shunliang Zhu, Ze Wei Shao, and Neil Ayson. The Italian also took the Best Abs award and the first place trophy in the welterweight category.

It was Miano’s first time to compete in the DC Classic and he couldn’t put into words his excitement over earning the overall title. He added it felt good to win the championship this year, on his first try, because he will leave the island in December and is unsure if he will return to compete again.

Meanwhile, Shao vied for the overall championship after ruling the Teen Bodybuilding, while Zhu was also a top finisher in the lightweight category. Iakopo, on the other hand, reigned supreme in the middleweight category and was named Best Pose, while Ayson exceled in the light middleweight division.

In other results, Jerome Diyco took home the overall Classic Physique trophy along with the first place trophy in the tall class. Coming in at second in the overall Classic Physique was Sean Japor, while Jia Chun Ye and Brandon John Reyes completed the Top 3 in the tall class.

In the short class of the Classic Physique, Lorenzo Sanchez took home the first place honors and was followed by Ze Wei Shao, Jaivan Dela Pena, Alberto Roberto, and Shunliang Zhu.

In the Physique Division, Jaivan Dela Pena won the overall first place trophy and was the winner in the Teen Physique category.

In the Short Class Physique, Lorenzo Sanchez took home the first place trophy and was joined in the Top 5 by Javin Okawa, Leonard Sanchez, Roberto, and Enrico Valdez.

In the Master’s Physique, Jun Ferdinand Lagmay placed first, while Ayson came in at second. For the Figure Division, Jordan Monderen won over Jenny Peneda who came in at second. The Bikini Division title was taken by reigning champ Natalia Larina, while Peachy Quitugua finished second. In the Fitness Pageant, Linzy Weglarezyke prevailed over Amy Alano and last year’s winner Tanya Tau Salas.
