The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. announced yesterday that they would be celebrating World Kidney Day with weeklong events starting Monday.

CHCC would kick of the occasion with a proclamation signing on Monday. On March 12, peritoneal dialysis patients will be sharing their stories on KKMP radio while the Commonwealth Health Center’s dietician, head nurse, and nephrologist will answer caller questions.

On March 13, CHC would be hosting a free mini-Zumba class and a mini-kickboxing class at the CHCC administration building parking lot starting at 5pm. The public is invited to this free event.

On World Kidney Day itself, March 14, 2019, CHCC will be hosting a daylong health fair outside the Hemodialysis Clinic from 9am to 3pm. There will be educational booths, free health screenings for blood sugar and blood pressure, cooking demonstrations, a photo booth, and a trivia game booth with prizes.

World Kidney Day is an initiative organized by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations.

According to CHCC statistics, about 850 million people worldwide have kidney diseases of varying origins.
