“The scholarships from Coldwell provides much-needed financial assistance for high school student who want to get an early start on their college journey,” said NMC president Dr. Sharon Hart. “We congratulate the recipients of this scholarship and express our deepest appreciation to Coldwell Solar International for partnering with NMC to make this scholarship program possible, This is the first company to step forward to provide for students presently enrolled in high school but are eligible for federal financial aid.”

According to Leo Pangelinan, NMC dean of Student Services, applicants for the scholarship needed to write an essay regarding the impact of the use of renewable energy sources in the CNMI. “It’s clear the awardees this year had put a lot of thought and research into the opportunities and challenges for alternative energy in the CNMI. I hope this award serves as a catalyst for more of our high school graduates to study the problem of providing electric utilities to our community.’’
