NMC, Framingham collaborate to offer master’s degree in Special Education
Registration for the master’s degree program with emphasis in special education, which is being offered through a collaboration between Framingham State University and Northern Marianas College, is currently ongoing. Those interested in earning their master’s degree and advancing their careers in special education are encouraged to enroll in the program.
The classes for the program are scheduled in a way that recognizes that many of the students hold full time jobs and are balancing many obligations. As such, the courses are provided in a condensed but convenient format supported by prior readings, and culminate in a final project.
The instructional content of the classes are delivered through both online formats as well an in-class sessions, which are led by Framingham professors who travel to the CNMI to meet personally with the cohort participants.
Those who already hold a master’s degree from U.S.-accredited institutions are not required to take the Graduate Review Exam to apply for the program. Individuals who have an undergraduate degree (but not a graduate degree) are, however, required to take Graduate Review Exam as part of the admission application process. The GRE can be scheduled at the Northern Marianas Testing Center by calling Isabel Matsunaga at 236-6774/6790.
Northern Marianas College offers several degree and certificate programs, including a Bachelor of Science degree in Education (emphasis on elementary education, early childhood education, special education, or rehabilitation and human services) as well as a Bachelors in Business Management. Other degrees offered include associate degrees are in business, business administration (emphasis on accounting, business management, or computer applications), liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, and hospitality management.
