No decision yet on reimbursement for LibDay vendors

No decision has been made yet whether vendors will be reimbursed a portion of the fees they paid to rent concession booths for the 2015 Liberation Day festivities due to revenues lost on account of Tropical Storm Chan-Hom and Typhoon Nangka.

Skywalker Communications Group, Saipan Mayor’s Office, and the 2015 Liberation Committee met yesterday at the Ladera Center to discuss the Liberation Day parade and the issue with the vendors.

Saipan Mayor’s Office special assistant Henry Hofschneider said there is one option, but the three groups will be meeting later this week to discuss options on how to deal with the vendor reimbursement.

“We will be meeting separately on that and decide on the vendors. We’re looking at an available option that a portion would be reimbursed; however, we also looked at our expenses and costs on our side just to be fair to everybody,” Hofschneider said.

He said that one of the options is to reimburse vendors a portion of the concession fees, adding that he hopes vendors and organizers will be able to reach an amicable agreement.

Skywalker Communications business director Elvis Yu also said that there hasn’t been any decision.

The carnival grounds opened yesterday, July 14. Due to tropical storms Chan-Hom and Nangka passing through the Commonwealth, vendors were not able to utilize the rented booths for 12 days since July 2.
