PH honorary consul to host flag-raising

The Office of the Philippine Honorary Consul to the CNMI will be hosting an annual Philippine flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day on Wednesday, June 12, at Kanoa Resort. The event will begin at 7am.

Members of the Filipino organizations in the CNMI will be meeting in Kanoa Resort at 6:30am.

Messages from President Rodrigo Duterte and other Philippine officials will be read at the event.

“This is event is for all the Filipinos in the CNMI to show their nationalism,” said Philippine honorary consul to the CNMI Glicerio Arago, who will also be doing the welcoming remarks.

CNMI government officials are also invited to the event, including Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios.

Filipinos are encouraged to wear barong Tagalog and Filipiana dress as a sign of their heritage and respect.

The theme for this year’s Independence Day is “Courage of the nation, compassion for the people.”
