Probable cause found against alleged child molester
The Superior Court found probable cause to warrant the arrest of an alleged child molester.
During a preliminary hearing last Thursday, Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo found probable cause to believe that the crime of sexual assault of a minor in the second degree was committed and that Peter Aldan may have committed it.
Govendo ordered 28-year-old Peter Aldan to answer to the charge made against him.
An arraignment for Aldan is set for Jan. 28, 2019.
Last Jan. 7, the Superior Court imposed a $10,000 bail on Aldan who is being charged with sexual assault of a minor in the second degree for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.
Aldan was not able to post bail and remains in custody of the Department of Corrections.
According to detective David Hosono’s declaration, Aldan was arrested at his household after a witness reported the sexual assault.
Hosono said that on Jan. 4, at about 10:22pm, police responded to a reported sexual assault of a minor complaint. At the scene, police were met with the victim’s mother
The mother of the victim told police that at about 9:50pm on Jan. 4, she walked past one of the bedrooms in the household and observed Aldan on the bed with the victim.
The mother said that she saw Aldan pull his hand out of the victim’s pants and raised her voice at Aldan asking him what he was doing.
Aldan told the mother that he was not doing anything, but the victim later told her mother that Aldan touched her inappropriately.
The mother said she then took her four children into their car and waited for police to arrive at the scene.
The victim is a relative of Aldan’s girlfriend. Aldan’s girlfriend was present for Aldan’s preliminary hearing last Thursday.
