Public warned of high surf today
A high surf advisory is in effect for north and west facing reefs in the CNMI until 6pm today, Friday.
Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, a northwest swell continues to produce hazardous surf on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
Large breaking waves will cause surf of 10 to 12 feet in the surf zone along north and west facing reefs of Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6pm today.
Waves and surf of 10 to 12 feet will be present along north and west facing reefs through this afternoon, creating dangerous swimming and surfing conditions. The public is being is advised to avoid venturing out along the reef line. Surf will be hazardous along north and west facing beaches, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Do not venture out along reef lines. (PR)
