Public warned of high surf today

A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6am today, Friday.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet and dangerous rip currents are present along north facing reefs until 6am today.

Large breaking waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries. Strong rip currents can drag you out to sea. Residents of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are advised to avoid venturing near reef lines facing north. Rip currents will be life- threatening. (PR)
