Randee-jo Barcinas Manglona was hailed this year’s most outstanding student of Rota Hocog Inos Senior High School after being conferred with the highest academic honor, the Board of Education Award, during commencement exercises Friday on campus.

Randee-jo led the 39 graduates of the institution for school year 2013-2014. The top graduate is the daughter of Randolph and Marla Barcinas and adopted by Raimundo and Josefa Manglona.

She will be attending University of California Davis and will major in English Literature. Randee-jo plans to get her degree and return to Rota to teach.

The second highest academic recognition was presented to Mona Quitugua Manglona—this year’s Commissioner of Education awardee and class salutatorian. She is the daughter of Thomas A. Manglona and Patricia Songsong, and Rose Quitugua. Mona will be attending Philadelphia University.

The Principal’s Award was bestowed on Beda Garcia Mundo, daughter of Jose H. and Camila Mundo. The graduate plans to attend Northern Marianas College.

RHI also named the following other honor students: Amelia Quitugua, Maricel Atalig, Rhea Costales, and Michael King.

Friday’s commencement rites were graced by education leaders and officials led by BOE chair Herman T. Guerrero and Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A. Sablan. Also in attendance were Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) and other elected officials.

With the theme “Hear us roar, watch roar, we are class of 2014,” the ceremony was keynoted by the class senior adviser Doralynn Barcinas.

RHI presented diplomas to 39 seniors this year.
