Relief drive for Tonga this Saturday

A relief drive will be held at the Garapan Fishing Base this Saturday, Feb. 26, to collect much-needed supplies for Tongan residents who are still reeling from eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai underwater volcano.

The Tongan community on Saipan welcomes those wishing to support the relief drive by bringing their donations at the Garapan Fishing Base from 7am to 6pm.

Organizers said they will collect canned goods, bottled water, and toiletries, and ship them to Tonga.

According to reports, 293 houses, the majority in Tongatapu, have been damaged or affected by the volcanic eruption and tsunami last Jan. 15.
