Rip current risk until tonight
The public is being warned that there is a high risk of rip currents through tonight. Also, a small craft advisory remains in effect until 6am today, Monday.
Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, dangerous rip currents are present along east facing reefs of the Marianas through Monday night.
Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
The public is advised to stay out of the water along east facing reefs. Also, sea conditions will be hazardous to small craft until 6am today, Monday.
Winds and seas are expected to drop slightly and allow marine conditions to drop below hazardous levels later today. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions. (Saipan Tribune)
