As the result of another familiarization tour negotiated by the Marianas Visitors Authority, international publication Brides will feature Rota and Saipan as the cover story of its May 2017 issue.
Brides is published by Conde Nast International Publishing and distributes 500,000 copies in China, in addition to having a strong following on Weibo social media site.
The cover story will bring the Northern Marianas an estimated $367,800 in ad exposure value and features actor Shuo Yang, best known for his role in last year’s most popular drama in China, Ode to Joy.
“The wedding and honeymoon market is definitely a strong niche market for the Northern Marianas and has seen recent growth, partly due to a few key celebrity marriages here,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “The MVA has been successful in negotiating a number of stories and local shoots by Brides magazine in the past. Although the flight schedule to Rota for large media or tour groups is always a challenge, we are pleased there were available seats to bring all the production team and equipment to Rota this time.”
The cover story, photographed last month, will include Rota Resort & Country Club, Song Song Lookout, Tweksberry Beach, Rota Swimming Hole, I’Chenchon Bird Sanctuary, As Matmos, and West Harbor.
Locations on Saipan visited included Kensington Hotel Saipan’s St. Angelo chapel, San Juan Beach, Ladder Beach, Coral Ocean Golf Resort, Mt. Tapochao, Salty’s Bar & Grill, 360 Revolving Restaurant, and Surf Club.
