Rota, Tinian centers offer free lessons

The Rota Chamorro Village Cultural Center is offering free lessons to Chamorros and Carolinians on making saibok lemai, apigigi’ mendioka, paki para usun pumeskan tasi and how to throw the talaya this Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the back side of the Community and Cultural Affairs office compound. The lesson will start at 9am and will end at 3pm.

On Tinian, the Tinian Chamorro-Carolinian Cultural Center is offering free lessons to Chamorros and Carolinians on making buñelos kamuti and amot minangnglo’ this Saturday at the Tinian Senior Citizen Center Pavilion. The lessons will start at 9am.

Bring your children so they, too, can learn the traditional ways of the Chamorros and Carolinian. Both centers are looking forward to your participation.

These activities are sponsored by the Association of Native Medicine and Culture, in partnership with the Rota Community and Cultural Affairs Office, Rota Mayor’s Office, the Tinian Community and Cultural Affairs Office, Tinian Mayor’s Office, and the Indigenous Affairs Office (Saipan), and funded in part by the Administration for Native Americans.
