SBL to hold shortened season
The Saipan Baseball League will organize a shortened baseball season this year to form an all-star team that will represent the CNMI in the 3rd Micronesian Baseball Classic scheduled in Palau from June 21 to 29.
Because of the limited time allotted to finalize team rosters, SBL is limiting the number of entries to six to ensure the finals are completed on time. Also with the proposed six squads, the league will hold games only on Saturdays and Sundays with two matches taking place each day.
Then to speed up the games, each match will only be played for seven innings, instead of nine. Potential all-stars will be scouted during the season and the league is encouraging these players to play and compete to the best of their ability.
A managers/coaches meeting will be held on March 21 at 5:30pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium’s conference room. For more information, contact league director Tony Rogolifoi, at 285-3966. (PR)
