Fresh to strong winds with a trade-wind surge will generate large swells hazardous to small craft in the Marianas waters until this afternoon, Thursday, March 5, according to the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, has also issued a small craft advisory, which is in effect until 6pm today.

East-northeast winds of 20 to 25 knots with higher gusts in showers are projected through this afternoon.

Seas will remain near 8 to 10 feet and then diminish slightly today.

Members of the public, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions and should avoid shoaling areas. Remember, breaking waves can easily capsize even larger vessels. (HSEM)
