Saipan Swim Club will host an open water swim at PauPau Beach tomorrow. Registration is from 8:30am to 9am, while swim time is set for 9:15am.
Swimmers will select from three courses: 2.5K, 1.5K, or 50 meters and this weekend’s event is the last under the club’s Summer Fun Open Water Series. Members of the Adult-Learn-to-Swim program will do the open water swim for the first time, as they will negotiate the 50-m course.
These fun swims are untimed and use of fins, buoys, snorkels, and wetsuits are welcome. Large bright orange buoys will mark the courses and kayakers will provide on-water escort and support.
The swim is free to SSC members and lifeguards with proof of certification. For all other swimmers, registration fee is just $5 cash or check (payable to SSC).
Meanwhile, due to popular demand, SSC is extending its free Adult-Learn-To-Swim program through September.
Classes are held every Saturday from 2pm to 3pm at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool across from the Mariana Resort in Marpi.
Classes are on a drop-in basis. Please come a little before 2pm to register.
