Starting Thursday, USCIS will accept only revised Form I-129 CW
Starting this Thursday, June 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will only accept the revised Form I-129CW, according to USCIS public affairs Claire K. Nicholson.
In an email to Saipan Tribune Saturday, Nicholson said USCIS will publish the revised Form I-129C on uscis.gov on or before this Thursday. Starting Thursday, USCIS will reject any older edition of Form I-129CW postmarked on or after that day.
Last May 14, USCIS published an interim final rule implementing the NMI U.S. Workforce Act of 2018. Nicholson said the interim final rule, which will take effect Thursday, includes a revised Form I-129CW Petition for a CNMI-only Nonimmigrant Worker and instructions.
The purpose of the interim final rule is to protect U.S. workers in the CNMI and ensure that U.S. workers will not be displaced or be a competitive disadvantage for employment.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres earlier stated that the guidance is important to the businesses and employers, while also ensuring that the CNMI protects US workers here in the Marianas.
