Store robbery in Dandan
Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help for a robbery that occurred at the New Family Discount Store in Dandan.
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at about 7:13pm, police responded to a robbery incident at the New Family Discount Store, located at the intersection of Birada St. and Route 305 in Dandan. Police met with and interviewed the store’s cashier, an Asian female, 45, and her son, 16, who were both working at the time of the incident. The incident was recorded on video.
At about 7:03pm on the suspect walks north on Dandan main road toward the store southern parking lot, dressed in long-sleeved black sweater, a pair of long black pants, slippers, and a black T-shirt covering his face. The suspect is described as possibly a local male, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, large build, dark skinned, and in his early 20s to late 30s. The suspect was armed with a machete. The suspect paused for a minute in the parking lot, then rushed into the store where he said, “Give me your money” to the cashier behind the counter. The suspect attempted to go behind the counter but returned to the front of the counter and reached into the cashier drawer and grabbed a few bills from the register drawer. The victim’s son attempted to restrain the suspect. The suspect swung the machete toward the victim’s son, almost hitting him. The suspect then exited the store, running south on Dandan (route 305) main road. No one was injured and the amount of money stolen is estimated to be at over $50 in small bills.
