SUV flips on its side in collision
A car collision involving two sports utility vehicles last Tuesday evening on Middle Road in Gualo Rai resulted in one of the cars flipped on its side.
Saipan Tribune learned from witnesses that an SUV leaving Megabyte Saipan was turning south to join the Middle Road traffic when the accident happened.
Another SUV running along Middle Road—a white Toyota 4 Runner—did not see the former make the turn and tried to avoid colliding with it, causing it to collide instead with a blue Nissan Rogue and the flip to its side.
Eyewitnesses said that police officers had to flip the SUV in order to move it from blocking the road, while the other SUV sustained damage on its front, resulting in the loss of its bumper. Videos relating to the crash later circulated in different social media platforms, as massive traffic lines were created in the early evening hours of last Tuesday.
Three passengers oin the white 4 Runner were reportedly not injured.
Department of Public Safety officers arrived at the scene around 7pm and closed off two lanes of the four-lane road in order to assess the scene and remove the vehicles in order to clear up the traffic.
DPS spokesperson Adrian Pangelinan confirmed that none of the vehicles’ occupants sustained severe injuries but were brought to the Commonwealth Health Center as part of precautionary protocol. DPS has released no statement yet about the car crash as of press time.
