TanHoldings Football Club and MP United FC won their season debuts in the girls U16 division of the 2019 NMIFA Fall Youth League last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

TanHoldings downed Southern United FC, 2-0, while MP United defeated Matansa FC, 5-2. Kanoa Football Club rounded out the winners list in the opening week after prevailing over Shirley’s Football Club via default.

Rizza Relucio and Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez delivered the pair of goals for TanHoldings with the former drawing first blood in the 27th minute and the latter finding the back of the net in the 68th.

In the other game last Saturday, Audrey Castro gave MP United a good start after firing four of their five goals. She made her first two in the 10th and 31st minute, while her sister, Aubrey, scored in the 25th minute, lifting MP United to a commanding 3-0 halftime lead.

After being silent in the first half, Matansa finally got things going in the second, however, Audrey was still unstoppable and countered with another pair to steady the ship for MP United. Audrey’s last two goals were recorded in the 46th and 58th minute, while Jannah Casarino finally put Matansa on the board in the 37th and also nailed her team’s second goal in the 68th.

Meanwhile, the co-ed U12A and boys U15 matches last Saturday morning and early afternoon were rained-out and will be rescheduled on a later date.

Shirley’s was supposed to duel Matansa in the first game in the boys U15 age group, while MP United and TanHoldings were slated to square off in the second match. In the U12 division, the pairings for Week 1 were Kanoa versus TanHoldings and Shirley’s against MP United.

TanHoldings 3, Matansa 0

TanHoldings also triumphed in its first game of the season in the boys U18 division after shutting down Matansa.

Mark Esalan, Joshua Waldo, and Jonathan Capayas posted the goal for TanHoldings. Esalan lit up the board first with his shot in the 34th minute, while Capayas and Waldo scored in the 58th and 70th, respectively.

MP United 8, Kanoa 1
In the other match in the division, MP United dominated Kanoa.

Six different players delivered in MP United’s lopsided victory. John Michael Rojas and Oliver Lee registered two goals apiece, while Eun Syu Hahn, Dylan Mister, Floyd Muna, and Skyler Poon contributed one apiece.

Markus Toves made the lone goal for Kanoa.
