Team Sawi halted the Silencer’s run in the 2nd Ali’i Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League after pulling off a 74-70 victory in their duel last Saturday night at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.

Errol Peredo scored 32 points in Team Sawi’s upset, including 7 in the fourth quarter to snap Silence’s seven-game winning streak. Brendon Talania and Jerome Directo also helped Team Sawi’s cause as the former added 20 markers and the latter made 5 of the squad’s last 7 points.

Team Sawi stole the win from the Silencer despite falling behind by a baker’s dozen at the break, 34-47. Patrick Morales and Kelvin Fitial alternately knocked in triples for Silencer in the second quarter to give their squad a double-digit lead. They combined for 6 treys in that period before being held to 6 points in the third canto, allowing Team Sawi to battle back and grab the upper hand, 60-57.

Talania and Peredo joined forces in Team Sawi’s recovery in the third canto, with the former logging 9 points and the latter chipping in 8. Peredo kept going in the fourth to lift Team Sawi to its third win in five games.

Meanwhile, Black Mamba eased past Vendetta in the curtain-raiser last Saturday, 100-82.

Black Mamba capitalized on the depleted Vendetta, controlling the match right from the get-go, 27-11. Vendetta had only six players when it faced Black Mamba and was clearly outplayed on both ends of the court to remain winless in five games.

Alex Lauron paced Black Mamba with his 24 points, while Cris Lansang chipped in 19. Three other Black Mamba players also broke into double figures with White Capalad recording 17 and Edong Echavez and Marlo Ibanez posting 11 and 10, respectively.
