Thursday, Tuesday leaders not safe on top

Share

A catch-me-if-you-can scenario remains in the Budweiser-Saipan Billiards Association Open 8-Ball Thursday and Tuesday leagues as Wild Bill’s and the Jokers IT&E Voyagers could still dislodge the leaders of their respective divisions.

Wild Bill’s has four more weeks, including tomorrow’s games, to make its move of foiling current leaders Route 33 Alamo Car Rental’s title bid while the Voyagers (119-91) must rack up more wins and hope that the Smoke Pub Armatech Hustlers (122-88) would start losing as both leagues enter the homestretch.

Route 33 remains on top in the Thursday League with a 126-84 won-loss record followed closely behind by Wild Bill’s’ 118-92 mark, while the Abyss Rack ‘N’ Roll and the Jokers Homeboyz are tied from third to fourth (114-96).

The Smoke Pub Magic 8-Ball (112-98) remain a long shot for the division crown since they are 14 games behind leaders Route 33, but could still contend for a podium finish depending on the outcome of their and opponents’ games.

The Magic 8-Ball failed to gain some ground last week despite a 13-2 win over the Barcode Breakers (64-146), while Route 33 continued to hold the top spot following a 10-5 victory against the Barcode Hobbies Deadshot (100-110).

Wild Bill’s could have closed the gap further with Route 33, but was held to an 8-7 decision by Jokers Hombeoyz, while the Jokers Wonderpool Aces (106-104) and the Abyss Titans (108-102) had the same scoreline against Jonny’s Teams SCS (88-122) and the Rack ‘N’ Roll.

It was an unusual result in the Tuesday league as all three matches played ended up with a 10-5 result.

The Hustlers, who are just three games ahead of the Voyagers, defeated their closest pursuers while the Jokers STR8 Shooters (100-110) beat the cellar-dwelling Abyss Homeboyz II (81-129) and the Abyss Crazy 8 (107-103) downed the Smoke Pub Ali’i Destroyers.

Tuesday League games between the STR8 Shooters and the Destroyers, the Hustlers and the Homeboyz II, and the Crazy 8 and the Voyagers were still being played at press time.

In the Thursday League, the Titans visit the Breakers while the Wonderpool Aces host the Magic 8-Ball. The Homeboyz clash with the Rack ‘N’ Roll, the Deashot take on Team SCS, while Route 33 battle Wild Bill’s tomorrow.
