Torres signs four bills into law

On Tuesday, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres signed:

• House Bill 20-16, SD1, “To amend 7 CMC § 3101(a) to mandate when a jury is impanel to hear all felonies and misdemeanor charges; and for other purposes.” This bill becomes Public Law 20-12. 

• Senate Bill 20-09, SD1, “To amend 1 CMC Section 8117(i); and for other purposes, which was passed by the 20th Northern Marianas Commonwealth Legislature. This bill becomes Public Law 20-13. 

• Senate Bill 20-48, “To amend 3 CMC § 1506 to change the position of administrative librarian to public library director; and for other purposes.” This bill becomes Public Law 20-14. 

• Senate Bill 20-54, “To mandate all government corporations, autonomous agencies and regulatory agencies to submit their annual budget to the Office of the Governor, which shall be included in the Governor’s annual budget proposal; to establish a penalty provision for the failure of such government entities to timely submit their annual budget to the Office of the Governor; and for other purposes.” This bill becomes Public Law 20-15.
